Turkey Istanbul Mayor, President Erdogan arrested his opponent

Istanbul Mayor Akram Imamoglu, Akram Imamoglu, one of the most famous opposition politicians in Turkey, was arrested on Wednesday morning with accusations against corruption and terrorism.

A large police officer came to Mr. Imamoglu’s house and took it, and a number of assistants were taken into custody. Prosecutors were given for more than 100 people arrested.

Mr. Imamoglu, despite the presence of early elections, was seen as an opponent in the next presidential election planned in 2028. O and other opposition figures want President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s government to release Mr. Imamoglu from politics, probably against Mr Erdogan.

In a video broadcast on social media before his arrest, Mr. Imamoglu accused the government of “usurping the will of the people.”

“We face great oppression, but I want you to be discouraged,” he said.
