The militants died at least five people after firing a group of tourists visiting a famous beauty spot in Kashmir in India.
Attack in Pahalgam, a picturesque city in the Himalayas is often described as “Swiss in India.”
Prime Minister of the region Omar Abdullah said the attack was “greater than anything we head to civilians in recent years.”
The reports said a number of people were injured in the attack. The region’s lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha, army and police said the police were placed in the scene.
Abdullah condemned the attack: “I was shocked from faith. This attack on our visitors is disgusting.”
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Since 1989, there has been a long-term rebellion in Muslim-majority region, although violence has extensions in recent years.
The attack occurred three miles (5 km) from Pahalgam, the mountain top in the top meadow (5 km).
Video footage in social media appear to show Indian troops running towards the attack event.
Police said a large number of tourists were taken to hospital with gunfound wounds. The area was closed and the search is made to find the perpetrators.
