From the archive: Roger Bannister, on breaking 4:00 miles

The first person to violate a 4-min area in Militaryay, at the age of 88, at the age of 2 years, Mark Phillips’s Mark Phillips, Northern Wes Santee and Australia John Landy (then 4:00 miles) and “Perfect Mile”. Phillips also reminds the next matches between Bannister and Landy in the epic competition, called the “Milit of the Century” in 1954.
