Egypt’s female farm workers face working conditions




Last year, Egypt hit a new record for fruit and vegetables, according to the World Bank, the highest ratio of women in agriculture is the highest rate of women: national and upper Egypt, nationwide and 94 percent high. However, in the fields, the working conditions of the 5 million women farm employees are terrible: there is no contract, half of the salaries of men and burning temperature. Grassroots organizations are now campaigning to formalize women’s labor, to demand fair salaries, ensure and recognize the safety of the workplace.
