I’m not a stranger to political repression and censorship. I have now lived in Germany for five years and have a Palestinian propaganda supporter, a Palestinian journalist, and I have repeatedly rape in the hands of the German government.
My husband teaches a German citizen and an American citizen, and at a time and at a time, it is subject to invasive interrogations and our things for our travels and clearly justified our belongings. However, we were shocked to know that these tactics were now captured to target the Palestinians in the ongoing genocide, designed to intimidate and prevent these tactics.
I always knew that citizenship only offered limited protection, especially when opposition. However, the right of freedom of speech, the right to speak without fear, the birth was to say something in my country.
I was wrong. The aggression we follow on March 24 shook this illusion when it comes to the United States. Our Palestinians, our political work, all our family, family, are not only in Germany, but also permanent goals in the United States.
Before the departure, the four agents approached me, as we were at our gave at the airport, and determined themselves as employees of the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS). They said they were looking for my husband to buy water and water for our sons.
“We just want to make sure that the Esta visa is in order,” he said.
They took his passport and took a photo of each page on each page when one of them stays on the phone. In 2022, they asked Gaza after seeing the Rafah border seal.
“Where did you go to Gaza?” Asked an agent.
“Khan Younis”, my husband replied.
“Where does your family live now?”
“Everything” said. “They live in tents in the strip, you know due to war.”
“What did you do while you were there?”
“Family visited.”
It became clear that we were on purpose. I didn’t see another passenger passing through a similar check. This has played a direct role to celebrate the background and political activity of the “suspicious” travelers with a direct DHS with DHS – a direct research or worrying of the DHS before leaving the United States.
After New Jersey arrived at Newark Airport, my husband and I left and were interrogated individually, each of us still took a child. Men who questioned us did not know themselves; I believe they were not the border police, but also DHS agents.
At first, they asked me about my visit and my trip to Gaza. They wanted to know who I met with who I met and what I met and everyone met with Hamas. In a moment, one officer was deliberately unequivocally unequivocal and instead of referring, “(my) family asked if everyone was part of the government in Gaza.
At once, I was experiencing violence from Israeli soldiers because I responded because I responded, “Israeli soldiers were not in Gaza in 2022.”
“During this war, anyone in your family had a violence?”
“Yes,” I replied. “Fifty was killed.”
“Were any of them Hamas supporters?” It was the answer I received.
It may as though it may justify the burning of a political family. As if children, elders, large numbers, the mothers, should be interrogated first before the dead.
I knew that I was a journalist, so they demanded that I wrote and did the last article that I was published. I told them that Mahmoud Khalil was a piece of abduction, and I also warned about the dangers of the policy of the Trump Administration. It seemed to increase their research. They have emailed my email address, social media accounts, without an extinct phone number.
Then they got our phones. When I asked what would happen if I could give me no choice. I think my phone will still be taken from me, and if my husband did not follow, it would be deported.
Finally, when we returned our electronics, the melting was a cold warning: “You have been here without a problem. Stay away from political activity and everything will be fine.”
Afterwards, I was advised to receive legal advice for not participating in ourselves and not to participate in any demonstration. Our actions were watching our words and even our silence and everything can be used against us.
What happened to us was not accidental; Was intentional. It was meant to be afraid and intimidate us. In Germany, in the United States, or elsewhere, the purpose of this tactic is the same: to feel small, isolated, criminal, criminals and a criminal and fear. To absorb every truth that we doubt each word we write, and to absorb every truth without reaching our lips. They want us to forget the people we lost.
Fiftees of the United States were killed in the US-supported genocide in Gaza. Fifty Spirits, each with his own dreams, laughter and love, the bomb and the world were turned off. The story of your family does not matter to thousands of others – stories that live out of the headings, but in the heart of the survivors.
We expect to keep this unbearable weight, we can quietly bend our heads and live as it is not separated by our world. But we do not bend.
So they are afraid of us; They are afraid of a hero who refuses to disappear. Palestinians who dare to speak, just to make a dangerous to make a witness.
I did not talk about our experience at the airport that the next match in the airport is harder and further. But we must remember, there is nothing that this state can compare to the people of Gaza. Our passports are only paper. Our phones are only metal and glass. These are things that they can confiscate and are things they can break. However, they cannot capture our audiences, memories and faithfulness to justice.
Officials in our output asked the last question of my husband: “What do you think about Hamas?” Is it good? “
“My anxiety is struggling with a genocide that has taken the life and freedom of my family and people. I am not interested in responding.”
This should be all the concern. Nothing should distract us from an undeniable truth: a people are cut and our responsibility is to stand with them.
The views shown in this article are unique and definitely reflect the editorial position of Gazir.
