Weak building standards often contribute to tragic fires in Iraq. In July 2021, a flame, in a hospital in Nasiriyah, who was killed by 60 to 92, was fueled by a highly valued Sandwich Panel, which is illegal in Iraq.
In 2023, more than 100 people were killed in a wedding hall in Nineveh province after the ceiling panels on a pyrotechnic car.
