Friedrich Merz was elected German Chancellor in parliamentary voting in the second round on Tuesday after the date of the day.
Merz, at least 316 members of the 630 members of parliament was needed to vote in favor. He received 325 votes.
Merz is expected to be the leader of Europe’s largest economy after the federal elections in February. The party, the central Christian Democratic Union, related to the Christian Public Union, provided the largest share of votes at that time.
The first place is expected to create a coalition government from the center placed in the third place in the election. On Monday, the parties signed a coalition agreement in the weeks of negotiations immediately after the election.
