Juan Mata launches an art exhibition reflecting ERIC CANTANA, Edgar Davids


Juan Mata was always a lot of a very good player.

As part of the Manchester International Festival in 2025, the former Manchester United and Chelsea Star – now plays in Australia for Western Sydney Wanderers – launched his exhibition: Football City, United States.

Well-known curator Hans Urrich Obrist, directed by Josh Willdigg and visual art producer Holly Shuttleworth, the project brings together new work of 11 legendary footballers and 11 modern artists. Together, they are investigating what happened when the two worlds and the two worlds are collided with the pitch and studio.

Among the players, the former Unic Cantona and Shinji Kagawa, the current United Women’s Star Ella Toone, Brazilian Legend RAI and always have colorful Edgar Davids.

“He played football and everything he did, was different and unique,” he said. “And he was very happy and welcomes the idea of joining. Thus, I am very happy to be one of the players in the exhibition and I am very happy to be here today and today.
