One night in Kashmir was caught between India and Pakistan’s war

During the night, we saw the hills in the hills in the houses with houses that stick to the slope of Kashmir’s Pakistan. On the Indian side, the city behind was glittered.

My friend was hopeful. “Lights are a good sign,” he said. “Nothing wrong tonight.”

As we sat at lunch, an announcement came out of a nearby mosque: “Citizens, especially in the border areas, are recommended to remain closed.”

It was as if the lights on both sides of the border were asleep, and darkened the dark creek. The announcement sounded secular, but Kashmiris knew what it means.

The shooting was about to start.

I had the riots that raised most of my career in Kashmir. At the end of a reporting visit, I was looking forward to staying with a village in a village with an Indian manager and his family with his family and his family.

The tensions between Tensions between India and Pakistan, the tensions between India and Pakistan, went to a military clash between the tensions in parallel.

One more remarkable – the global attention and exciting world leaders – India and Pakistan have been broadcast on 200 mile rockets and drones. The exchange of holiday between nuclear armed neighbors caused panic, but relatively small loss.

The other, more cruel, one was concentrated in Kashmir. Along the control line, the border of the territory, the area and an old artillery battle in the settlements, the territory and Pakistani was caught in the middle.

The war took place last month as a result of a terrorist attack on the Indian side of Kashmir, which was solving 26 civilians. India claimed to be responsible for the attack on Pakistan and rejected Pakistan.

The massacre was one of the worst attacks on Indian civilians for decades, and this was long-term military operations. Since 1947, in the end of the British colonial authorities, Pakistan and India have fought several wars on Kashmir, the two countries, including both of the two countries and both.

Kashmiris rarely had a word in his own destiny.

My friend and my family knew what to do. They have already raised the hill in a safe house where others have already collected. When the explosions started, we had difficulty – acute, rhythmic and intensified. Each thud sent a concussion from the walls.

Twelve of my friend, mostly my friend’s extended family, dragged into thin mattresses in a corner room on the first floor, randomly quiet whisper. Women and children took refuge in the concrete bunker behind the house.

Around 11:30, a thick white bearded elder read a small person’s stop and prayer. It was not a regular time for this, but no one was questioning the idea.

The voice of the young man, shakes and clear in the dark, and the rest of the remaining silently and waited for the bombing.

Young men stayed on their phones, wrote friends and relatives in other villages. “You are safe?” One hour after the shooting began, after an hour later, the phones covered the shelter with information that our shelter was killed far away from the ground.

“It’s quiet here,” I thought a calm in my phone said that as my wife met with my wife, in the city of Baramulla, one hour and a half away from the control line. “I’m very safe.”

I could hear the women in the nearby bunker who played Islamic Shahful – “There is no god but God …” – every time a shell goes down. Did not crack the sounds. Every time an explosion got up, my own body was fastened.

Shooting stood at 6 am

He drained the whole night; The soil was moist and the sky was clear. As they go out, the first thing we saw, part of the Pir Panjal Mountains was a pilgrimage. Some men who speculate as military experts, pointing to the hills and estimated trajectories, trying to make the shells.

In India, the community leaders in the neighboring region in Neighbor Kashmir counted 13 dead with the opening of four days. An officer Pir Mazhar Shah, a Pakistani side, said 11 people were killed on Thursday night.

The war is likely to end up so far. India and Pakistan has agreed to the ceasefire on Saturday, and after a few hours, it was reported to open fire along the border.

But I will not leave me in a safe house. Not the cause of fear – passed. I respect for the strength of people along the control line: for this cashmere, who lives in the shadow of danger and live all their lives.
