MiddlesBro has set Edwards as a new head coach with a three-year deal.
42-year-old leaving Luton in January, before the summer, replaces Michael Carrick, who left the Riverside stadium before this summer.
Edwards are believed to reject the advances from other clubs, including Bristol.
