The conservative leader of Germany fell into a short period of time to create a majority to be Chancellor in parliament.
Friedrich Merz needs 316 votes in the 630-seat Bundestag, but in two and a half months after the German federal elections, 310 provided a significant blow to the Christian Democratic leader.
